CLINTON TWP. – Two people were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following recent motor-vehicle stops, police said.
Brianna Jackson, 23, of Washington in Warren County, was charged with DWI at 12:40 a.m. on Monday during a stop on northbound Route 31 near Halstead Street, police said.
Jackson, driving a 2011 Nissan Altima, was not able to stay in her lane, police said. An officer smelled alcohol on her breath and she was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia, police said.
She was charged with DWI, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. She was also issued motor-vehicle summonses for operating a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, failure to maintain lane and maintenance of lamps.
She was released to the custody of a responsible adult and her vehicle was towed and impounded, according to police.
Harnak Singh, 27, of Clinton, was stopped on Country Club Drive for speeding in a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday. During the stop, he was arrested and charged with DWI, police said.
He was also issued motor-vehicle summonses for speeding, failure to maintain lane and failure to inspect. He was released on his own recognizance and his vehicle was towed and impounded, police said.
Township police also reported two recent marijuana arrests.
A 24-year-old Pittstown man was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following a stop on northbound Route 31 at 10:40 p.m. on Saturday. Christopher Wernoch was also issued motor-vehicle summonses for operating a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, speeding and maintenance of exhaust, police said.
During a motor-vehicle stop on westbound Route 22 near Petticoat Lane at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 25, police arrested a passenger, Andrew Hopkins, 23, of Whitehouse Station, and charged him with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Both were released pending a court appearance.
