Remembering Helen Margaret Heidelbach: A Life Well-Lived

Franklin County residents are mourning the loss of Helen Margaret Heidelbach, who passed away on May 27, 2024. Helen, born on November 26, 1932, in Claysburg, Blair County, PA, was a beloved member of the community.

For the past six years, Helen and her husband Walt resided at Menno Haven. In July of 2023, she moved to the Village Square Personal Care Unit due to ill health, where she received loving and compassionate care until the end of her life.

Helen’s journey began in Claysburg, where she was the seventh of nine children born to Harry Edwin and Edna McDonald. After graduating from Claysburg High School in 1950, she moved to Baltimore and worked at Sun Life Insurance Co. for eighteen years. In March of 1965, she married Walter R. Heidelbach, and the couple spent most of their lives in Cockeysville, MD, before retiring to Penn National in Fayetteville, PA in 1995.

Throughout her life, Helen’s passions included golf, family, and friends. She is survived by Walt, her husband of 59 years, their son Brian, daughter-in-law Kimberly, grandsons Ian and Evan, and sister Kay Schon. Services and interment will be held privately.

The community is invited to honor Helen’s memory by visiting the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA, to order memorial trees or send flowers to the family. Helen Margaret Heidelbach will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and love for life.
