Japan’s industrial production did not experience any variation last August compared to the previous month, compared to the monthly decline of 1.8% that it registered in July, according to preliminary data published this Friday by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Industry.
In an interannual rate (August 2023 compared to the same month in 2022), Japan’s industrial production fell by 3.8%.
According to data from the Japanese Government, the industrial sectors that contributed positively to industrial production in August were petroleum and coal products, electrical machinery and electronic information and communication equipment, and metals.
For its part, the negative contributions came from motor vehicles; iron, steel and non-ferrous metals, and transport equipment, excluding motor vehicles.
Forecasts for the month of September point to a monthly increase in Japanese industrial production of 5.8%, above the previous forecast of 2.4%, while a monthly rebound in this indicator of 3% is expected for October. .8%.
