Celeb-studded Snedens Landing in the Palisades has one less star homeowner.
Icelandic singer, songwriter and producer Björk — known for her multifarious approach to music, as well as her outlandish outfits — has sold her New York property in this glitzy enclave for $2.2 million, according to a report.
Located some 12 miles north of the George Washington Bridge in Rockland County, Snedens Landing — perched above the Hudson River — is also known as “Hollywood on the Hudson.” Household names including Bill Murray, Al Pacino and Jane Pauley are residents. Mikhail Baryshnikov, Diane Sawyer and Angelina Jolie have also called this hamlet home.
Björk bought her nearly 3,000-square-foot spread on Woods Road in 2002 for $1.4 million — marking a tidy profit on this recent sale — according to Variety. But she had been trying to sell it since 2009, when she listed it for $1.8 million and, simultaneously, had it on the rental market for $7,000 per month. It then spent time both on and off the market until 2015, when it returned with a striking $3.2 million asking price.
A number of property details are unavailable, but the stone structure stands three stories tall and contains four bedrooms. The property dates back to George Washington’s presidency, when he reportedly used Snedens Landing as a communications hub; military officials Marquis de Lafayette and Baron von Steuben are said to have passed through the area as well.
This doesn’t mean Björk is leaving New York altogether. After buying out her ex-partner Matthew Barney from their Brooklyn Heights penthouse at 160 Henry St., she now has sole ownership of that spread.
