Mindy Kaling-approved designer Elizabeth Kennedy is over boring red-carpet dresses.
“Evening wear right now looks a little dated to me,” says Kennedy, whose own structured gowns are also beloved by Laverne Cox and Uzo Aduba. “It’s stale and very traditional. And my least favorite trend is the naked dress,” Her solution? Caftans.
The designer is launch-ing a capsule collection of elegant tunics (from $3,100 to $12,400) this week with Moda Operandi.
“Caftans are the easiest thing to wear,” she gushes. “They’re great for around the home, especially when you’re entertaining. And when it’s hot outside, it’s all fair game — as long as it still looks put together. You don’t ever want to look too sloppy,” she warns. Or too naked.
