EUGENE — A burglar arrested by Eugene police last month has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after accepting a plea agreement.

The Register-Guard reports 26-year-old Ryan Hershey pleaded guilty Monday to 11 counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.

Police say Hershey broke into businesses and University of Oregon buildings during a seven-week crime spree that began at a tavern in November and ended Jan. 10 when officers caught him climbing out of a window at a chiropractor’s office.

Hershey previously spent time in prison for commercial burglaries in Cottage Grove, and could have faced an even lengthier sentence had he not entered into the plea agreement.

Hershey apologized in court Monday.
