Police said a man drove himself to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds after being shot while walking down the street.

About 9 a.m. Sunday, the 49-year-old man showed up at Rush Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chicago police. He later was found to have been shot in the arms and leg, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, told officers he was walking in the 4200 block of West Roosevelt Road in the Lawndale neighborhood, about 6 a.m., when a person he didn’t know walked up to him and started shooting, officials said.

The man later was transferred to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

Police said no arrests have been made and detectives from Area North are investigating.
