No one was hurt in a dramatic house fire that grabbed the attention of beachgoers on Sunday afternoon at Cannon Beach.
The upper floor of a four-unit building on Hemlock Street caught fire around 4 p.m. Bystanders helped an elderly woman escape from an upper-floor apartment, said Chief Matt Benedict of Cannon Beach Fire & Rescue.

The fire destroyed the upper units of the building, while the lower levels were heavily damaged. The building is likely a total loss, Benedict said.
