Northampton County court officials didn’t have to look far to find a new deputy court administrator.
Ruth Vega-Velez was appointed to the position after working for 22 years as the county’s domestic relations director. She has 31 years of court-related experience, according to county Court Administrator J. Jermaine Greene Sr.
“With her expertise, Ruth will be a perfect complement to the Office of Court Administration,” Greene said in an email.
She was the unanimous choice of Northampton county’s judges and of Greene. Her appointment was approved by Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court.
Her first day on her new job will be Feb. 21, 2017.
Greene was the deputy court administrator until Jill Cicero retired Aug. 5, 2016. Cicero took over for longtime administrator James Onembo in 2014.
