A 47-year-old man was found dead after he was suspected of fatally shooting a relative and wounding another in suburban Monee, police said.

About 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the 4900 block of Main Street for a call of shots fired. Two people had been shot, and a 47-year-old man suspected of being the shooter had left, police said.

One of the victims was a woman who was taken to Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, where she was pronounced dead. The other person was listed in serious condition, though officials did not detail the person’s injuries.

About 9:40 p.m., the suspected shooter’s vehicle was seen near Will-Center Road and Dralle Road. Will County deputies and officers from University Park responded to the area and found the man who had been suspected of being the shooter dead, police said.

Officials do not think anyone else was involved in the shooting.
