PATERSON — One teen died and another was wounded Saturday in a shooting, police said.
The teens were shot at 5 p.m. in a home on Auburn Street, Paterson detectives said in a statement.
Police gave medical aid to the victims when they arrived. The teens were sent to St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
A 16-year-old boy died in the hospital, detectives said. The other victim, a 17-year-old, was treated and released.
Paterson detectives and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are interviewing the families and canvassing the neighborhood.
Cars slowed down along Auburn Street to look at a memorial set up outside the house up as some neighbors gathered near the scene. There were 23 lit candles and several balloons as part of the memorial.
