ATLANTIC CITY — An Atlantic City firefighter fought and caught a burglar when he got home on Wednesday afternoon.
Silvester Fonville’s front door was open and a burglar was walking down the stairs with some his belongings when the captain arrived at his house at 1 p.m.., Atlantic City police said.
Fonville fought with the 52-year-old thief and subdued him until police arrived to arrest the man, police said.
Richard Barber, of Atlantic City, was charged with burglary, robbery, criminal attempt theft and had two warrants out for his arrest. Barber was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries and then brought to the Atlantic County jail.
Police recovered all of Fonville’s property.
