The Bears continue to work to fill out John Fox’s coaching staff for the 2017 season and one source said three candidates are under consideration for the wide receiver job that was vacated when Curtis Johnson informed the organization he was leaving shortly after the Senior Bowl.

Bob Bicknell, Ronald Curry and George McDonald have all been interviewed for the job, an NFL source told the Tribune.

Bicknell has worked for the 49ers, Eagles, Bills and Chiefs since 2007. He was a wide receivers coach last year in San Francisco and spent the three seasons prior to that in the same position in Philadelphia. He is the son of former Boston College coach Jack Bicknell.

Curry was an offensive assistant for the Saints last season. He got his start in coaching in 2013 when 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh hired him as an offensive assistant and he spent three seasons working for San Francisco. Curry played seven seasons in the NFL with the Raiders after he was a seventh-round pick out of North Carolina in 2002.

McDonald, who played at Illinois from 1995 to 1998, has been the wide receivers coach at North Carolina State the past two seasons. He coached the position for the Browns in 2009 and 2010 and worked at Northern Illinois from 2001 through 2003 where he coached former Bears wide receiver Sam Hurd and current University of Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck.

The Bears need to hire an assistant special teams coach after Richard Hightower was hired as the special teams coordinator for the 49ers on Kyle Shanahan’s new staff. ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported the Bears have interviewed former Bears linebackers coach James Willis for a position as an assistant defensive line coach.
