February is prime time for winter premieres. Networks will be rolling out dozens of new shows as well as bringing back a few fan favorite shows.
“The Walking Dead” is one of the most exciting returns. The Feb. 12 midseason premiere will show Rick (Andrew Lincoln) realizing that taking on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will be more difficult than anything he has faced before. Other returning favorites include “The 100,” “The Mindy Project” and “The Voice.”
Superhero fans have new shows to watch. DC Comics is putting out its first comedy with “Powerless,” premiering Feb. 2. The NBC show follows Emily (Vanessa Hudgens), an optimistic employee who creates products that help protect people from being a casualty when Batman and Superman fight their villains. Meanwhile, Marvel is releasing their first X-Men drama with “Legion,” which focuses on a mental institution patient (Dan Stevens) who learns that he might not be crazy. He’s just a powerful mutant. The FX show premieres Feb. 8.
Other shows have started generating buzz because of star power. “Big Little Lies” is a new HBO mystery series that stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley. Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet,” starring Drew Barrymore, follows a woman who develops a craving for Betlike human flesh. Rhianna’s guest arc on “Bates Motel” Season 5 is giving the cult show a little more attention too.
