Are Riggs (Clayne Crawford) and Cahill (Jordana Brewster) dating?
In a sneak peek for Season 1, episode 14 of “Lethal Weapon,” Riggs and Cahill appear to be getting cozy with each other over what seems to be a dinner date at a restaurant. At some point in the clip, Riggs even kisses Cahill’s hand.
While Riggs and Cahill definitely look as if they are in a romantic relationship together, it’s more likely that the romantic date between the two is only part of a plan to protect the police psychologist from a mysterious stalker who has been obsessed with her.
According to the synopsis for the episode, a brutal car crash reveals that Cahill is the target of a murderous stalker, causing Riggs and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) to turn the tables and start asking her questions for a change.
In the preview clip for the episode, Murtaugh tells Captain Avery (Kevin Rahm) that the “creep” has been watching Cahill for weeks now.
Riggs, meanwhile, assures Cahill that they’re going to catch her stalker. “I can find this guy, but you have to trust me,” Riggs tells her in the video before they start posing as boyfriend and girlfriend.
While the sweetness between Riggs and Cahill may only be part of the mission to capture her stalker, it is still possible that the pair’s pretend play can spark a real romance between the two.
In an interview with TVLine last June, Crawford said that he thinks the show will bring in a new girl to Riggs’ life later in the season, and the actor seemingly expects that it’s someone viewers always see on the series. “I think at some point they’re going to try to incorporate some kind of love interest [to Riggs’ story]. And it would be crazy if it was Jordana,” Crawford said.
“Lethal Weapon” Season 1, episode 14, titled “The Murtaugh File,” airs on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
