On September 15th, 2017, assassin had placed a tank filled with explosives in a tightly occupied subway. However, it did not explode, but explosives produced only a puncture flame. Thirty people were injured, but re were no casualties.
The defendant had claimed in court that he knew that bomb would not explode. He did not want to put human lives at risk, but only wanted to live out a “fantasy” inspired by action films. The judge, however, was convinced that defendant “wanted to wreak as much death and carnage as possible.”
The assassin should have built bomb during a holiday with his foster parents. According to judgement, he had searched internet for instructions and ordered parts. The bomb was filled with 2.2 kilos of nails, knives and screwdrivers. The terrorist militia “Islamic State” (IS) had claimed deed after attack.
