“Riverdale” Season 1, episode 5 will feature an unlikely friendship between Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch).
In “Heart of Darkness,” Cheryl will become very anxious while organizing Jason’s (Trevor Stines) funeral, but she will make her schoolmates think that she’s doing well. Veronica, who has a gift for reading people’s feelings and expressions, will reach out to Cheryl when she realizes that she’s in need of a friend. However, Veronica’s bold move may not sit well with Betty (Lili Reinhart) since she’s at odds with Cheryl.
The Blossom family will also be on in Cheryl’s plan to make Jason’s memorial very memorable for her late brother. However, it seems that they have a different agenda, and this will eventually be explained in the upcoming episodes. The Blossoms are very mysterious and even though everyone is heartbroken over Jason’s demise, it seems that they were able to move on from it rather quickly.
Elsewhere, Betty will also do her own digging into Jason’s death. While doing so, she will discover some shocking secrets about her own family. It is unclear whether or not Betty’s mom, Alice (Madchen Amick), had something to do with Jason’s murder. After all, Alice is angry at Jason for breaking her eldest daughter’s heart.
Meanwhile, Hermione (Marisol Nichols) will reach out to Fred (Luke Perry) for help after receiving a cryptic message from the Southside Serpents. By the looks of it, Hermione and Fred will rekindle their close relationship from several years ago.
In other news, Archie (KJ Apa) will get an opportunity of his life when he is given the chance to work with a new music mentor in school. After his relationship with Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel) was busted, the lead character could no longer work with the music teacher.
“Riverdale” Season 1, episode 5 will air on The CW on Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. EST.
