The meeting — as unexpected as it is — will take place in the Blue Room at 6:30 p.m., and comes on the same day Trump welcomes Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Rubio and Trump famously clashed during the campaign, with Rubio calling Trump a "con-man’ and making jokes about the size of his penis. Trump in return savaged him as "Little Marco." But Rubio came around to Trump, noting he pledged to support the nominee.

Since being re-elected, Rubio has taken a measured approach to Trump, notably backing away from a challenge to Rex Tillerson, Trump’s secretary of state.

Rubio’s office has not responded to a request for more information.
