Can J’onn (David Harewood) and Kara (Melissa Benoist) keep M’gann (Sharon Leal) safe from her fellow White Martians?
In the trailer for Season 2, episode 11 of “Supergirl,” M’gann notices that a fellow White Martian disguised as a man has been observing her at the bar she works in. M’gann reports what she found out to J’onn and Kara, who both assure her that they won’t let the White Martian take her away.
“The White Martians want me to pay for my war crimes. They’re hunting me,” M’gann says in the clip.
“I’ll protect you, M’gann,” J’onn tells her.
“That’s what we do. We protect people,” the Girl of Steel chimes in.
Protecting M’gann, however, seems easier said than done. According to the synopsis for the episode, J’onn and Kara decide to bring M’gann to the DEO to keep her safe. But things get tricky when they find out that Armek (Terrell Tilford) — the White Martian M’gann saw at the bar — manages to infiltrate the Supertotobet DEO headquarters by shape-shifting into the Martian fugitive. With the DEO’s security compromised, the team realizes that Armek could be disguised as any of them.
In the preview clip, Winn is seen seemingly firing some sort of a flamethrower at a number of people at DEO. Is that really Winn? Or is that Armek disguised as the IT whiz?
In the comics, Armek is a member of the alien super team known as the Hyperclan. Armek and seven other aliens come to Earth, claiming that they are the last survivors of a world that had been destroyed by environmental irresponsibility. Vowing to never allow such a disaster to happen again, the Hyperclan claims they journeyed through space looking out for planets that are in need of saving. This, however, is just a front to turn public opinion against Earth’s more prominent superheroes, particularly the Justice League of America.
“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 11, titled “The Martian Chronicles,” airs on Monday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
