Police were questioning a suspect after a man was found stabbed to death near Metra tracks in the Fulton River District Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers found the 24-year-old man in the 400 block of North Clinton Street around 3:20 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at 3:52 p.m. on the scene.

He was identified as Walter Long Jr., of the 5900 block of West Walton Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He had gotten into a fight with someone who pulled out a "sharp object" and stabbed him, police said. A person was taken into custody, but no charges have been announced.

Police asked Metra not to use one of three train tracks in that area while it investigated the scene, according to Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.
