Renfe is the company in the passenger transport sector preferred by university students to work in Spain, according to data from the Merco University Talent 2022/2023 report.
The report, according to Renfe, is prepared by Merco (Corporate Reputation Business Monitor) in collaboration with the Recruiting Erasmus platform, establishing a ranking with the 200 best companies to work for in Spain, according to the assessment of 9,139 university students and higher education students. professional deformation.
At a general level, Renfe ranks 32nd in the ranking of the 200 best companies, two places above last year. At a sector level, Renfe ranks first in the passenger transport sector, ahead of Alsa, Metro de Madrid and IAG.
Renfe has incorporated more than 7,000 new workers between 2018 and 2023, which has made it possible to reduce the average age of the workforce, which is currently 44.9 years, five years less than in 2018, when the average age of Renfe workers was 50.1 years.
Of the total number of contracts in the last five years, almost half, 3,360, are driving personnel, which is the largest group in the Renfe workforce. In other words, in the last five years Renfe has incorporated more than 1.8 train drivers every day.
In 2022, more than 1,000 new train drivers joined Renfe, thus achieving the largest staff of train drivers in the last ten years, with 5,655. The second group of the company that has received the most new hires since 2018 has been sales, with 1,800 new workers, while 1,400 new workers have joined the workshop area.
Likewise, Renfe has managed to reduce the gender gap in recent years, going from 10% to 21% in the company as a whole, a percentage that is higher in some groups.
In total, the 2023 Public Employment offer will allow the incorporation of 1,250 workers into the Renfe Group workforce: 500 new entry commercial operators, 450 entry machinists and 300 entry manufacturing and maintenance operators.
