Canadian Denis Shapolov was eliminated in the first round of the Roland-Garros tournament on Tuesday.

Shapovalov, seeded 14, suffered a three-set loss to Denmark’s Holger Rune, 6-1, 6-3, 7-6(4).
The meeting lasted two hours.
“Shapo” slammed six aces, but still committed six double faults. He only broke his rival’s serve once in three occasions. For his part, Rune broke the service of the Canadian five times in nine attempts.
The Canadian committed 53 unforced errors during the duel against 27 winners.
Rune, the 40th player in the world, is on a roll, having recently reached the semi-finals of the Lyon tournament and won the Munich competition, both ATP 250 tournaments.
