Texas State coach Everett Withers apparently didn’t waste much time in filling the vacant position on his staff.

The Baton Rouge Advocate reports that former LSU graduate assistant and interim assistant Eric Mateos will join the Bobcats as their offensive line coach and will join the staff next week.

Mateos, 27, started last season as a graduate assistant offensive line coach for the Tigers. Midway through the season, the Kansas City native joined the staff as tight ends coach when Steve Ensminger was promoted to offensive coordinator by interim coach Ed Orgeron.

Before working at LSU, Mateos worked three years as a graduate assistant at Arkansas.

He played collegiately at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and Southwest Baptist, where he began his college coaching career in 2011.
