Illinois will have another Friday night football game this season.
The American Athletic Conference moved the Illini’s game against South Florida to Friday, Sept. 15, which is a day earlier than scheduled. The game will be aired on ESPN during prime time with an exact kickoff time to be determined later.
The game is at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., which is the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the team Illini coach Lovie Smith formerly coached for two seasons before heading to Champaign.
This is the second Friday night game on Illinois’ schedule. The Illini also face Nebraska at home on Friday, Sept. 29.
The talk heading into 2017 will be more about Alabama, Clemson and Florida State than the best of the Midwest, but here’s a look at where the Big Ten teams stack up.
