PISCATAWAY — As he introduced a 17-player recruiting class on National Signing Day last year, Rutgers coach Chris Ash called it “an eventful process” and said he was pleased with the final results.

“We’re very excited about our first signing here as a staff at Rutgers University,” Ash said on Feb. 3, 2016. “As you look around the country, National Signing Day is a very exciting day for college football, for fans and staffs are extra excited here because of the hard work that our staff put in and sports staff and the people around this university put in to help us get to this day.”

Of course, Ash had less than two full months to put the finishing touches on the 2016 recruiting class after he was hired in early December 2015.

“I’m really excited about how it all came together and how we got to this point,” Ash said, “and the young men that we are going to bring into this program to help us build this program the way that we want it built.”

How RU ’16 recruits fared

What will Ash say today as he introduces his second recruiting class during a Signing Day press conference at the Hale Center? Unlike a year ago, Ash had a full year to evaluate the needs of his team on the recruiting trail and to sell his program to high school prospects and coaches in New Jersey and throughout Rutgers’ ever expanding recruiting base.

As of early Wednesday afternoon, Rutgers had signatures from 25 players. But like any Signing Day announcement, the class could feature a surprise or two when Rutgers releases an official list to the media shortly Forvetbet before Ash’s 2:45 p.m. press conference.
