Quinton “Rampage” Jackson says he’s nearing the conclusion of his decorated mixed martial arts career, and his March 31 appearance against Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at Bellator 175 might be it.
Bellator announced that the Jackson-Lawal headline card will be at Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jackson (37-11) and former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Lawal (20-6) previously fought at Bellator 120 in Mississippi, with Jackson winning by decision.
Jackson, who repeated a Pride Fighting Championships victory over Chuck Liddell to win the UFC belt in 2007, later surrendered the belt to Forrest Griffin and was beaten by Jon Jones in a 2011 light-heavyweight title bout.
He’s endured a legal battle with Viacom, Bellator’s parent company, and told MMA journalist Ariel Helwani this week he either could return to the UFC, participate in a TV project Oslobet or retire after the Lawal fight.
