San Antonio super featherweight Ramon Cardenas is scheduled to headline a Scratch Hard Boxing show March 4 in the parking lot at Las Chance Ministries, 404 Brady Blvd. on the West Side.
Cardenas (10-0, 6 KOs) is scheduled face Angel Enrique Jimenez (8-11, 1 KO), of Mexico City, in the six-round main event.
Cardenas also is scheduled to fight Friday in Monterrey, Mexico, against Luis Francisco Vara (5-2-3) in an eight-round bout.
Other local fighters scheduled to appear on the March 4 show include welterweight James Cantu, coming out of a five-year retirement; flyweight Emily Garcia; Robert Ledesma; and Britney Ordonez, a flyweight making her pro debut.
First bell is at 4 p.m. Tickets — $25 for general admission; $600 and $500 for VIP tables — can be purchased by calling 210-896-4538, at the Royal Place Ballroom or Last Chance Ministries.
S.A. shut out in Austin: No San Antonio boxer advanced at the Austin Regional Golden Gloves Tournament completed this past week at the Travis County Exposition Center.
Tournament director Art Cardenas said “about 15” boxers from the San Antonio area competed. Boxers were forced to travel to Austin after this year’s San Antonio Regional Golden Gloves tournament announced it was taking a one-year hiatus.
Terrence McKinney, of San Antonio Parks & Recreation, finished second at 178 pounds after advancing to the finals where he lost to Roman Ruiz of Perazim Boxing Club of Round Rock.
The Texas State Golden Gloves tournament is Feb. 21-25 in Fort Worth.
