PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Mets’ third baseman David Wright has been ahead of schedule on his rehab from a neck surgery to correct a herniated disk. But there was one hurdle he needed to overcome: Playing catch.

Earlier this week, Wright talked about his neck surgery and his progress on the field. Now, six days later, Wright was finally able to throw for the first time this spring and the first time since his June surgery. Following his throwing session, he talked to the media about taking this step and how it felt to finally throw again.

Alderson: ‘We’re all in’

The Mets held their first full-squad workout of spring training on Sunday. Wright also took batting practice and fielded ground balls and reported that he was pain-free throughout.
