A 13-year-old Streamwood boy died after he was hit by an SUV as he crossed the street Sunday night a half-mile from his home, authorities said.
Ronald Guidry, of the 800 block of Lacy Avenue in the northwest suburb, was pronounced dead at 8:31 p.m. Sunday at St. Alexius Medical Center after the incident near Irving Park Road and McKool Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Police were called to the collision in the 900 block of East Irving Park about 7:40 p.m. and found that the boy had been hit by a Chevrolet Suburban heading east on Irving Park from Sunnydale Boulevard, according to a news release from Streamwood police. The boy had been trying to cross to the north side of Irving Park from the south when he was hit.
The 58-year-old man who was driving the Suburban had received no citations in the collision as of Monday morning, according to police. He was not injured in the crash.
The suburban Serious Traffic Crash Reconstruction team is helping to investigate. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
