Cradle Games just launched the Kickstarter project for its occult sci-fi RPG “Hellpoint.” The game studio also released a demo that players can run on their Windows and Linux devices. Though it is still in pre-alpha and has several issues, Cradle Games has vowed to polish it continuously in the coming months.
On Friday, Cradle Games launched the crowdfunding campaign for its upcoming game on Kickstarter. In its first update, the team teased fans that it is dropping celestial news soon. For now, the developers want players to learn more about its game and check out the demo it released alongside the launch of the crowdfunding project. The main objective behind the release of the demo is to collect feedback and comments from players to ensure that “Hellpoint” would make a good impression at launch.
Even before the launch of its Kickstarter, Cradle Games’ “Hellpoint” caught the attention of some gaming sites because of its gameplay and familiar elements. DualShockers labeled the game as “‘Dark Souls’ in space” with split-screen. For the gaming news site, “Hellpoint” has obviously drawn inspiration from FromSoftware’s work based on its different gaming elements. Wccftech also said the same thing about “Hellpoint” being inspired by Hidetaka Miyazaki’s work with the addition of a few unique features.
Aside from its similarity to “Dark Souls,” the game also made headlines because the studio behind it was founded by industry veterans who had worked on several titles in the past, including “Assassin’s Creed,” “Prince of Persia,” “Rainbow Six,” “Spider-Man,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Skylanders,” among others.
In this sci-fi action RPG, players assume the role of a nameless character, who wakes up in a derelict space station called Irid Novo. Apparently, the universe is in bad shape following a massive quantum cataclysm known as the Merge, which caused all living beings to merge with their alternate versions from parallel universes. Aside from solving the big problem, players will also have to deal with enemies, unknown entities and more mysterious events that will come their way.
To better understand the game, Cradle Games is encouraging everyone to download the demo for Windows and Linux. While the demo is only available for the two platforms, the studio has confirmed that “Hellpoint” will be releasing on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well. The studio even said that they might bring the game to the Nintendo Switch and Mac depending on the success of the Kickstarter project.
“Hellpoint” does not have a specific release date yet, but Cradle Games is targeting a Q1 2018 release. Get more information about the game here.
