Nokia is finally finding its feet after staying away from the smartphone industry for more than two years. The company, under the ownership of HMD Global, seems to be aiming for the right segment of the smartphone market — it has chosen to make its mark with mid-range devices instead of going for premium ones, where it would have to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.

The strategy seems to be working for it since its first smartphone for 2017 — the Nokia 6, has already got more than 1 million bookings in China.

Now, the company is preparing for the Mobile World Congress 2017, which is going to be held later this month in Barcelona. According to Venture Beat, Nokia is expected to unveil the Nokia 6 Global model, a tribute phone to Nokia’s 3310 handset, and the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 3 — which could either be a mid-range device or a budget one — at the event. Given Nokia 3’s features, the likelihood of a budget pricing is higher.

The Nokia 6 has opened to mainly positive reviews in China and the company is expected to maintain the tempo with the Nokia 3. Here are some features that the device is expected to come with:

Display: The device is expected to have a no-frills HD display — the phone is rumored to have a 5.2-inch 720p display. Given that the current titans of the industry are actually investing in high-end displays such as edge-to-edge OLEDs and even foldable displays, this is the most basic display available on mainstream smartphones.

Processor: The Nokia 3 is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor.  Once again, this is a basic processor, as Qualcomm’s 400-series processors are generally used on budget smartphones unlike the 600-series and 800 series ones which are used on mid-range and high-end devices, respectively. The Snapdragon 425 is expected to be a slight improvement over the Snapdragon 415 processor, included in many budget devices in 2016.

Operating System: The Nokia 6 came with the Android Nougat OS out-of-the-box and all of the company’s upcoming devices are expected to follow suit, including the Nokia 3.

Memory: The device is expected to come with 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard memory. Just like any budget phone, the phone would be capable of performing basic tasks and run apps, but we wouldn’t deem it suitable for high-end gaming.

Camera: The phone is expected to have a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. More details about the cameras are yet to surface.

Pricing and availability: The smartphone is expected to be priced at around $200 and is expected to go on sale in either March or April. Unlike the Nokia 6, the Nokia 3 is expected to have a global launch, instead of a China-exclusive one.
