VINELAND — Seven months after a pedestrian was killed in a crash outside Cumberland Mall, police charged the driver with the death.
Jonathan A. Santos, 26, of Pear Street, in Vineland, was charged on Feb. 4 with death by auto and leaving the scene of an accident. He was allegedly involved in the July 9 crash that killed Patricia Pennington, 33, of Bridgeton.
The crash occurred last summer on Delsea Drive at Cumberland Mall around 3:36 p.m. Santos was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata when he struck Pennington, police said. Authorities declared Pennington dead at the scene.
Santos is being held in the Cumberland County Jail, pending a court hearing.
