If Israelis want to defend ir country, y are retorting those who claim that Israel is not a democracy, quite proud that, after all, a former president, Moshe Katzav, is sitting in prison for sexual harassment. Or until recently, also former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for corruption. And even one or or minister had already landed in prison for bribery in past.

A certainly somewhat abstruse answer, but it actually shows that judiciary in Israel does not shy away from highest dignitaries and politicians when it comes to investigating and also penalising criminal wrongdoing. The legal bodies in Israel have ir hands full. Because corruption in small country is flourishing. Politics and economy and, more recently, military may seem to have been deeply entangled in bribery, fraud and corruption.
For months, Israelis have been spellbound, as authorities have been investigating against ir Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And that in four cases. After public prosecutor’s office from “preliminary investigations” has now made “investigations of criminal activities”, it seems that Prime Minister is beginning to narrow down.
The supervisory authority of ongoing investigations is borne by Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, cases are called 1000, 2000, 3000 and recently also 4000. In all four cases, Netanyahu appears to be involved.
