The US government is opposed to legalizing marijuana and is thus adopting a directive by Government of ex-President Barack Obama, which allows individual US states to decide on ir own cannabis policy. In future, this will now be responsibility of prosecutors, who will have to decide wher y adhere to ban at federal level or to more liberal laws in ir states.

The possession of and trade in marijuana is still illegal in United States at federal level. In 2013 directive, however, it was said that federal government in Washington will not stand in way of legalization in individual states – as long as drug does not get into those parts of country in which it is not allowed, nor is it sold to children.

One of eight states that have legalized marijuana for recreational use is Colorado. His Republican senator, Cory Gardner, accused Justice Minister Jeff Sessions of trampling will of voters in various US states. With his default, party friend would disagree with what he said to him before his office was sworn in. He was willing to take all necessary steps to tackle this step, Gardner tweeted.

This reported action directly contradicts what Attorney General Sessions told me prior to his confirmation. With no prior notice to Congress, Justice Department has trampled on will of voters in Co and or states.

Despite such alleged promises, sessions have repeatedly made it clear that marijuana is on a par with heroin and is partly responsible for rise in violence in US. Against legalization was refore a major concern for him for his term of office. President Donald Trump has kept himself covered on subject so far.

The new directive from Ministry of Justice is likely to cause confusion about where it is okay to grow, buy and consume marijuana, and where not. Since 2013, in states like Colorado, Oregon, Alaska or main district, Washington has developed its own industry, which is now co-financed by its tax charges, schools, authorities and police.

The presumably largest legal market for marijuana worldwide is likely to emerge in California in coming years. There, marijuana was completely legalized only at beginning of year, after it had previously been allowed for medical purposes. It is estimated that marijuana market in California alone could generate a billion dollars of tax revenue each year, as soon as sale has established itself in a few years.

Because of this enormous economic factor, many Republicans are also opposed to tightening up existing rules. Liberals also argue that legalization of black market and, at least, marijuana, also means that violence between gangs of criminals who are fighting over drug-related areas is not lost.
