CLEVELAND, Ohio – Amanda Berry will report on missing people and contribute feature stories to WJW Channel 8’s newscasts. Her first report airs during Channel 8’s evening newscast on Monday, Feb. 6.
Teased during a 10-second commercial spot aired during Sunday night’s Super Bowl, Berry’s role at Channel 8 was confirmed during the station’s Monday morning newscast.
Berry, who was kidnapped and held for 10 years by Ariel Castro at his Seymour Avenue home, was rescued in 2013.
Berry and Gina DeJesus, another kidnapping victim of Castro, collaboration on a book, “Hope: A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland,” which was published in 2015. A third kidnapped woman, Michelle Knight, wrote her own book, which was published in 2014.
Castro hanged himself in his prison cell in September 2013.
