AKRON, Ohio – If the bobblehead bug has bitten you and you want to add to your collection at home or in your office, there’s an event for you: A bobblecon is set for Saturday, Feb. 18.

It’s at the Ancient Order of Hibernians, 753 N Main St., Akron. It starts at noon and runs until 2 or 3 p.m., organizer Pedro Avalos said. Cost is $5, which covers food. A bar is available.

Those attending also can bring any types of sports memorabilia to sell, trade or display, but bobbleheads are the main focus at the informal meetup.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a bobblehead to donate for a raffle.

For questions, call Avalos at 330-802-1046.

Avalos founded Bobblehead Addicts in 2014, and it has grown to more than 6,000 members worldwide. Last year, it became the official online community of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee.

This month, Avalos was instrumental in helping Bob Manak organize his collection of more than 1,500 bobbleheads the Cleveland man is donating to the museum.
