A 20-year-old Bolingbrook man is headed to prison for the armed robbery of a PlayStation video game system in Lombard.
Jason Taylor, of the 1400 block of Breezeway, pleaded guilty to armed robbery Thursday and was sentenced to 15 years in prison by DuPage Judge Daniel Guerin.
Prosecutors said Taylor answered a Craigslist ad and arranged to travel to Lombard on May 11 to purchase the system from his victim.
Once at the home, Taylor and the victim haggled over the sale price of the PlayStation. During the argument, Taylor pulled a gun and threatened the victim. He then grabbed the PlayStation and fled in a car driven by his brother.
The car was pulled over a short while later by Lombard police, who found the gun and PlayStation in the trunk. Both men were arrested at that time.
The driver of the car was convicted of robbery and ordered to serve 180 days in DuPage County jail.
“I hope this case will serve as a reminder that if you are conducting business through Craigslist or other similar sites, arrange to meet in a well-lit public place and if possible do not go alone,” DuPage State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement.
Taylor is required to serve half his sentence before being eligible for parole.
