Date Specific Opportunities
Run/Walk/Zumba Event Volunteers
OhioGuidestone, solutions for children, families & communities, is seeking volunteers to help with their Run/Walk & Zumba event in May. Volunteers are needed to prepare for the event in early April stuffing gift bags and posting fliers. Volunteer help will also be needed the day of the event, May 13, 2017 at 8am. Duties include: assisting with registration, passing out bags, attend water stations, cheering and clean up.

Foodbank Warehouse Volunteers
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is seeking volunteers to sort, inspect, and pack donated food. Volunteer projects will be based on the daily needs of the foodbank. Individuals and groups welcome! Weekdays: 8:30am-4pm, Sat: 8:30-11:30am. Opportunities are also available every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 5-7pm.
Sort and Box Books for Kids
Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank provides books to children of low-income families who may not otherwise have them in their household. Volunteers are needed to sort the donated books by age-appropriateness, other volunteers will box the books. Weekdays: Tues-Thurs, 9:30am-12pm and weekends: scheduled upon request, minimum 6 volunteers.
Volunteer at Lake Health
Lake Health has many volunteer needs in both their Willoughby and Concord locations. Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas: the Emergency Department, gift shop, transporting patients, patient registration, surgical desk, administration desk, pet therapy (certified pets only), floor positions, and more. Flexible hours/shifts.
Help Students Learn to Interview
Help prepare students at Youth Opportunities Unlimited for meeting a potential employer for the first time by conducting mock interviews. Mock interviews give these teens the confidence they need to navigate their first real interview successfully. Locations include: Glenville, John Marshall, Lincoln West, Shaw and JFK High Schools. Hours vary depending on location from February 22 – March 13, for 1 1/2 hours during the school day. Click here for specific dates and times. This is an ongoing opportunity during the school year.
Foster at House of Mews
House of Mews Rescue is looking for volunteers to help with fostering, event planning, fundraising, and grant writing. House of Mews Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster based organization dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned stray cats and kittens. They assist Ashtabula, Lake, and Cuyahoga counties. Flexible hours to fit your schedule.

Keeping it Green in the Discovery Center
The Museum of Natural History believes that even the youngest children benefit from being exposed to the natural world! Smead Discovery Center is the Museum’s hands-on learning center designed for visitors of all ages to enjoy together. In keeping with promoting a green environment, volunteers will help prep donated materials that would have otherwise been thrown out. Trim paper to make it useable, punch out animal shapes from old wallpaper, and cut paper scraps to bookmark shape for bookmark crafts. For those who aren’t good with scissors, there are plenty of toys and puzzles which require regular cleaning. Free Parking and post-event social at ‘Think & Drink with the Extinct’ downstairs at the museum. Only 8 spots left!
