CLEVELAND, Ohio–Feb. 1 marks an important filing deadline at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.  Ballot issues and candidates for office must be submitted if they are to appear before voters in the May 2, 2017 election.

Issues and certain candidates voted on in September have later deadlines.

The municipalities covered by the Sun-Post Herald–Fairview Park, Lakewood, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, and Olmsted Township–are nonpartisan, and therefore do not hold primary elections. Therefore, there are also no ballot issues in the above-listed communities for the May 2 election.

However, several candidates have so far filed to  run for various offices.

Fairview Park:

In 2017, Fairview Park has no elections scheduled.

However, incumbent Judge Donna Congeni Fitzsimmons is running for another six-year term in the Rocky River Municipal Court. Fairview Park is one of the five municipalities in Fitzsimmons’ district, which also includes the Metroparks.

Lakewood:

Meghan F. George, Ryan P. Nowlin, Tristan W. Rader, and Brian M. Taubman filed to run for at-large seats on Lakewood City Council.

North Olmsted

Albert G.C. Serafini has filed to run for the Ward 4 city council seat.

Olmsted Falls

Incumbent Mayor Ann Marie Donegan has filed for reelection.
