CLEVELAND, Ohio —  The 2017 Lenten season begins on Wednesday, March 1, this year. An abundance of weekly fish frys will kick off around town Friday, March 3, and we’ll have the details on all of them in our 2017 Northeast Ohio Fish Fry Guide.

If your church, school, civic group or other nonprofit organization (sorry, no restaurants or taverns) hosts a fish fry, we want to know about it. Your listing will appear on cleveland.com. We are accepting listings until 5 p.m. on February 20.

To submit your listing, first go to our online calendar entry form at cleveland.com/myevent.

In the form:

1. Title your event “fish fry,” and select the category “Fish Fry” just below. (Important! We need the category to make sure your event makes the print listing.)

2. Select the location of the event by typing a few words of the name and choosing the right location from the list that appears.*

3. Fill in the dates and times in the date space. (“Fridays from March 3 to April 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.” works, for example. For just one date (say, a single night’s event), omit the weekday. Click to one side of the date box to make sure the computer understood and the date you entered is correct.)

4. In the description, put the name of your organization as the sponsor and describe the basic meal. (For example: Two deep-fried or baked pieces of cod or 10 shrimp; coleslaw or applesauce; one side dish; bread and butter; coffee or tea.)

  • You can add up to 15 additional words describing other dishes and/or services available. (For example: Homemade desserts; baked tilapia; pierogi dinners; kids menu: cheese pizza, toasted cheese; take-outs available.)
  • Enter the price for a basic meal in the Price space (For example: $8.50; $7.25, seniors and children 4-10; free, children 3 and under.)
  • Enter a telephone number (including area code and extension, for publication) that people can call with questions. You can throw in the URL of your website if you use one.

5. Provide the name of the contact person and day and evening telephone numbers to confirm or obtain information. (This contact information will not be published.)

After filling out the form, your event will go online immediately at cleveland.com/events. The deadline for submissions in 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20. We reserve the right to edit or omit items.

*What if you can’t find your location in the list of venues? Try several forms of the name first. There are thousands of locations already in the database, but a few new ones come up every year. To let us know about a place we don’t have on file, please go to cleveland.com/contactus/ and provide the location’s name, its address including street number, street, city and ZIP code and a phone number for the place that would be good for any event, such as the office number of a church. We’ll type that in promptly and let you know.

If you need to make a correction later, use the cleveland.com/contactus/form to let us know.
