At the new Club Pilates Carrollwood, certified instructors show clients how to use reformer machines to achieve a full body, low impact and high intensity workout.

"Whether you’re 18 or 90, it really helps everybody because it’s rehabilitative," said instructor Jessica Olin. "It helps lengthen, strengthen, as well as helps flexibility."

Reformer Pilates differs from mat Pilates because of the use of resistance springs. The springs on the reformer machine counterbalance a person’s body weight, as well as provide assistance during exercise.

"People love the reformer because of the fact that you can do a full body workout because it has so many apparatuses with it," Olin said.

Classes are 50 minutes long, and different levels of classes are held throughout the day. Classes include Reformer Plus, Cardio Sculpt, Barre/Reformer Fusion and TRX/Reformer Fusion.

Pilates also helps people destress.

"It’s great for mind-body connection," Olin said.

Club Pilates was founded in California in 2007, and there are now hundreds of locations throughout the United States. The Carrollwood location is the second in Florida, but several more are opening soon in the Orlando and Tampa Bay area.

A grand opening will be held Feb. 18-19. Free demo classes will be available, as well as raffles and giveaways.

Club Pilates Carrollwood is located at 13254 N Dale Mabry Hwy. For more information, call (813) 773-3880, or visit clubpilates.com/carrollwood.
