SUN VALLEY >> Los Angeles firefighters rescued at least 15 people from their cars in Sun Valley on Friday as raging waters from a giant winter storm flooded San Fernando Road, firefighters reported.

More than a dozen firefighters converged just before 5 p.m. with hook-and-ladder trucks on a line of 10 vehicles stuck along the flooded roadway at Tuxford Street, said Erik Scott, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The firefighters rescued at least 15 people trapped by the swift moving water in the 8600 block of San Fernando Road, he said. No one was injured during their ordeal.

The intersection of San Fernando and Tuxford, which commonly washes out during major storms, was impassable and closed until further notice.
