Lisle Park District is honoring a select group of photographers who have found beauty and inspiration in the district’s parks.
The photographers are the winners of park district’s 2016 Photography Contest, announced at the park board’s January meeting.
The first place award was presented to Scott Carlson for his original photograph taken of the “Morning Mist” on a clear day in Lisle Community Park. Carlson’s photo is now on display in the Lisle Park District Recreation Center lobby at 1925 Ohio St.
The honor for second place was awarded to Mary Harmon for her vibrant photograph “Bird on a Thistle” capturing a goldfinch on its perch.
The third place photograph was taken by Albert Yu during an “Illumination” fireworks display at the annual Lisle Eyes to the Skies festival over the Fourth of July weekend in Lisle Community Park.
Last but not least, honorable mention was given to Tracy Roehn for her quick flash capturing a competitive moment “When Your Teammate Loses a Cleat, Take the Ball to the Goal” during a Lisle Classic soccer league game.

This year, in honor of the Lisle Park District’s 50th anniversary, the 2017 Photography Contest includes a special twist. Any photos taken within the last 50 years can be submitted and entered into the annual photo contest through Oct. 1.
