Marc Rivera IIU.S Marshals

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man charged in connection with a deadly October stabbing on Cleveland’s West Side is now behind bars.

Police arrested Marc Rivera II, 18, at about 4 p.m. Wednesday on an outstanding warrant.

Rivera appeared for arraignment in Cleveland Municipal Court on Thursday where a judge set his bond at $250,000 and bound his case over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury, according to court records.

He was charged with aggravated murder Oct. 30 in connection with the slaying of 24-year-old Darren Shea-Ron.

The stabbing happened about 11:40 p.m. Oct. 18 on West 98th Street near Zimmer Avenue in the city’s Cudell neighborhood.

Rivera was with a group of about six men when they began taunting Shea-Ron and another man, 31, as they walked down the street, police said.

Shea-Ron and his friend ran from the group, but they caught up with the pair and stabbed both, police said.

Shea-Ron was found alongside the road bleeding from several stab wounds to his chest. The 31-year-old man was found a short while later.

Both were taken to MetroHealth, where Shea-Ron succumbed to his injuries.

Police named Rivera as a suspect in the following days, but he eluded capture until earlier this week. U.S. Marshals asked the public for help in tracking down Rivera on Dec. 19, when they named him their “fugitive of the week.”

His first appearance at Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court is slated for Feb. 8.

No one else has been charged in the case, according to court records.
