The Big Apple will become the Windy City on Monday, with powerful gusts up to 52 mph expected, forecasters warned.

A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. across the tri-state area, where winds will clock in at up to 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The city’s Department of Buildings issued a warning to builders, contractors, crane operators and property owners to secure their construction sites, buildings and equipment.

Officials will perform spot-check inspections of construction sites around the Big Apple. If sites are not secured, the department will issue violations and stop-work orders.

The blustery conditions may top trees and power lines, buffet tall vehicles and delay airline passengers.

A stray morning flurry may sweep through the area, which otherwise will be partly sunny with a high of 39 degrees, It will be mainly clear and breezy Monday night, with a low of 26 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

But as actual temperatures drop below freezing, any lingering wet areas from earlier rainfall or melting snow may turn icy.

“As high pressure builds into the Great Lakes region during the day on Monday, the threat for squalls will diminish Monday afternoon and evening for most places,” AccuWeather meteorologist Steve Travis said.

Any lingering traces will be gone with the wind, as Valentine’s Day will be mostly sunny with a high of 38 and low of 32.
