Drunken driving, Boston Road: On Jan. 30, police were dispatched to a two-car crash at the intersection of Boston Road and Oxford Drive. An arriving officer was investigating the accident when a Jaguar drove up without a front license plate.
The officer motioned for the car to pass. The Jaguar moved a few feet and then stopped in the road. The officer talked to the driver, who appeared drunk and smelled like alcohol. The driver asked the officer if everything was alright.
After failing a field sobriety test, the man, who had a west spot on his pants, was arrested for drunken driving. Later the man thanked the officer for everything he does.
The officer noted the man was sincere and very polite during the entire incident. He was also cited for no front license plate.
Fraud, Ridge Road: On Jan. 24, a resident came to the police station to report she had been scammed over the internet. The woman said she was contacted via her computer about problems that could be corrected. She agreed to pay nearly $500 for the fix.
Later the resident discovered someone fraudulently charged more than $700 to her credit card. When she called the alleged computer repair company back, she was told to send $500 worth of iTunes gift cards.
The woman told the officer she was embarrassed about being scammed. The credit card company requested a police report to investigate.
Burglary, Royalton Road: On Jan. 26, police were dispatched to a Royalton Road apartment after its resident returned home to find his front door kicked in and a television and money missing.
The man said he had spent the night at his girlfriend’s house. He returned home at 4 a.m. but didn’t call police until 9 a.m. He couldn’t provide the officer with an answer as to why it took him so long to call the police.
The officer noted the apartment had numerous items such as game systems and flat-screen televisions that weren’t stolen. The man complained about the quality of the apartment door.
He seemed more interested in having the door replaced than the missing money and television. Police are investigating.
