AKRON, Ohio — Akron police arrested a second man accused of shooting a man who then crashed into a utility police and later died, police said.
Donqus D. McSwain, 23, of Akron, faces charges of murder and felonious assault, Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards said.
Theo King, 29, was arrested Thursday morning at his girlfriend’s house on North Way Street in Barberton, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force said. He is charged with murder.
The 28-year-old man, identified as Richard McCoy, was shot in the torso during a fight just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on West Long Street near Edison Avenue, Edwards said.
He crashed his Ford Econoline van as he tried to drive away from the scene, Edwards said. He was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General where he was pronounced dead, he said.
Police and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s office have not said whether the man died from the shooting or the crash. The man’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
King and McSwain are set for a court appearance Tuesday in Akron Municipal Court, according to court records.
