NORTH RIDGEVILLE DISTRICT
Teams: 1. Gilmour, 2. Lutheran West, 3. Kirtland, 4. Independence, 5. Wellington, 6. Beachwood, 7. Columbia, 8. Trinity, 9. Horizon Science Academy, 10. Oberlin, 11. Wickliffe, 12. Warrensville Heights
Takeaways: Gilmour has put together quite a season with its success after returning its entire squad minus one graduating senior from a year ago. The Lancers have also played a challenging schedule led by junior Naz Hillmon (15.7 ppg, 13 rpg) and senior Emily Kelley (14.5 ppg) both 1,000-point scorers. Kelley leads Gilmour with 71 3-pointers and broke the state single season record that was 115.
There will be some interesting position matchups in sectionals to watch. Lutheran West and Kirtland have continued to build its consistency winning ball games. Sydney Snyder (19.1 ppg, 4.6 spg) is a big contributor for Kirtland and is tied with teammate Lauren Lutz with 6.9 rebounds. Jenna Sayle is averaging 10.9 points in 22 games.
Lutheran West is led in scoring by Rayjah Johnson with 10.8 points followed by Maquilia Norman (9.0 ppg, 2.0 spg) and Abriana Rondin (8.0 ppg, 2.2 apg). (Last year’s bracket)

Gilmour over Lutheran West
The Lancers have been preparing for the playoffs since making their first state tournament trip last year. Lutheran West has had a phenomenal season, but the Longhorns may have too much to contend with in Gilmour’s offense. The last meeting ended in a 65-47 win for Gilmour in the district semifinals.

Newton Falls is also vying for a spot in the finals after winning the district. In late January, the G-Men topped Newton Falls, 42-37, on the road.

Garrettsville Garfield over Newton Falls
The G-Men reached the regional playoffs two years ago, and I project they will do the same. Garfield avenged an earlier loss to Newton Falls with a 15-point win and has the firepower on offense to nab the district title.
