CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Washington state man was indicted on a federal charge after investigators said he brought a 17-year-old to the Cleveland suburbs to be a prostitute.
Tyrell Moss, 33, brought the teenager from Tacoma, Washington to Beachwood, but not before making stops in California, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Illinois, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The FBI previously said the teen was forced into prostitution at each stop.
Moss was arrested at a Beachwood hotel in on Oct. 14 by the FBI as part of a federal operation that focused on human trafficking. He and Jada Boyd, 20, were originally charged in state court with exploiting the teenager, authorities say.
The FBI’s efforts, dubbed Operation Cross Country X, recovered 82 children and arrested 239 pimps and their associates in the United States and in other countries, according to a new release from October.
Two victims were recovered in Cleveland, as well as three suspects, the release states. Investigators also seized $3,000 seized in cash during a search of a 2009 BMW.
An attorney representing Moss in the state case did not immediately return a phone call.
The case is assigned to U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi in Akron.
