The high school’s administration was alerted to the situation on Monday, the Parma City School District said in a statement. The employee accused in the situation is 25-year-old Ashley B. Mason, Parma police Capt. Kevin Riley told cleveland.com.

Mason is accused of having a sexual relationship with a Parma Senior High School student, Riley said. The sexual interactions between the student and Mason – which all happened off of school property – took place from Jan. 23 through Feb. 6.

Mason has been charged with one count of sexual battery in connection with the allegations, and she is scheduled to appear in Parma Municipal Court at 11 a.m. Friday, Riley said.

Mason is not a Parma Schools employee but rather was contracted to the high school through the Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County, the district said. She has been placed on administrative leave and is not allowed to return to the building.

Her employer, the Educational Service Center, was also made aware of the allegations.

The school district said in its statement that it would not comment further on the situation, citing the ongoing police investigation.
